Bag Drop Service Notting Hill

You've checked out. Your bags are packed. But your train isn't until 7pm - or your flight doesn't land until noon and check-in is hours away. Sound familiar?

It's one of those small travel frustrations that can quietly eat into a whole day. At Pocket Apartments, we offer a bag drop service so that none of your time in London gets lost to lugging a suitcase around. Here's how to make the most of it.

🧳 How our bag drop works

It's simple. Whether you're arriving early before your studio is ready, or you've checked out and have hours left in the city, you can leave your bags safely with us at reception and head out with nothing but your wallet and a good mood.

No need to let us know in advance, no faff, no queuing at a station locker, no dragging a wheelie suitcase down Portobello Road in the summer heat.

We charge a small fee of £10 per luggage set (e.g. large suitcase and backpack), and this is payable by cash OR card when you arrive.

It's a small thing that makes the whole trip feel a lot lighter - literally.

🌅 Arriving early? Here's how to spend your first few hours

If you land or arrive before your room is ready, drop your bags with us and head straight out. Notting Hill in the morning is one of the nicest versions of London there is.

Saturday morning at Portobello Market
If your arrival happens to fall on a Saturday, you've landed at exactly the right time. The antiques dealers are set up by 9am, the food stalls fire up not long after, and the whole street has an energy that's hard to find anywhere else in the city. Go without a plan and see what you find.

A slow breakfast in the neighborhood
Westbourne Grove and the streets around it are full of good independent cafés. Grab a table outside if the sun's out, order something unhurried, and let the neighbourhood wake up around you. You're in no rush - your bags are already taken care of.

Holland Park on a quiet morning
A fifteen-minute walk from our apartments, Holland Park is peaceful and genuinely beautiful before the crowds arrive. The Kyoto Garden - a Japanese-style garden with koi and a small waterfall - is tucked inside and easy to miss if you don't know it's there. Worth finding.

Start at Pocket Coffee & Bag drop
Before anything else, our nearby coffee shop Pocket Coffee is the perfect first stop. A good coffee, something to eat, and a friendly face who can point you towards whatever you're in the mood for. It's a gentle way to begin the day - especially after an early start or a long journey in.

🌇 Checking out but staying in? How to spend your last few hours

Checking out doesn't have to mean the day is over. Some of the best hours of a trip can happen after you've handed back the key - if you're not weighed down by your luggage.

A proper lunch, finally
This is the moment for the restaurant you kept meaning to try. The Cow or The Hillgate are brilliant Pubs for a long, relaxed lunch - great food, Guinness on tap, and exactly the kind of place that makes you feel like a local. Taq or Dove are both fantastic restaurants in the area run by one of the best Chefs in London - definitely worth a try!

One last wander through the streets
Notting Hill's residential streets - Pembridge Crescent, Lansdowne Road, the painted houses around Elgin Crescent - are the kind of thing you want to walk through slowly, without anywhere to be. Do it properly on your last afternoon.

Kensington Gardens and the Serpentine
If the weather's good, there's no better way to spend a final afternoon than in the park. Walk through Kensington Gardens, sit by the Serpentine, or pop into one of the Serpentine Galleries for a free exhibition. It's fifteen minutes from the door and feels a world away from the airport you'll be heading to later.

A farewell coffee or something cold
Swing back past Pocket Coffee on your way to collect your bags. It's a nice way to round things off - a last coffee, a chance to say goodbye, and then you're on your way. Guests do this more than you'd think, and we're always happy to see familiar faces.

👥 Who uses the bag drop most

Honestly - almost everyone, once they know it's there.

Solo travellers especially find it useful: travelling light is part of the appeal, and not having to check a bag into a locker at Paddington means more time and less fuss.

Families love it too. Trying to navigate Portobello or wander through a museum with multiple bags and tired children is no one's idea of a good afternoon. Drop everything with us first.

Guests visiting friends or relatives often have flexible timings and end up with a few unexpected hours to fill. The bag drop makes those hours actually enjoyable.

If you're not sure whether it works for your trip, just ask. We'll always do our best to help.

📍 Where to find us

Our reception is at the heart of both our Notting Hill and Kensington properties. You can book your stay directly on our website - and once you're booked, just drop us a message about your arrival or departure plans and we'll arrange the rest.

London is too good to spend lugging a suitcase around. Leave it with us. ☀️

A Blue Plaque Walk Through Notting Hill & Kensington

A Blue Plaque Walk Through Notting Hill & Kensington

There’s something old-school about spotting a blue plaque in London. One minute you’re walking past pastel townhouses and flower-filled mews, the next you realise that a world-famous novelist, scientist or artist once lived right there.

The streets around Notting Hill and Kensington are packed with some of the city’s most fascinating blue plaques - and early summer is the perfect time to explore them. In June and July, the parks are green, café tables spill onto pavements, and the neighborhood feels at its absolute best for wandering.
