Finding the Right Place to Stay in London

Finding the right place to stay in London can feel overwhelming. There’s a lot out there - big hotels where you pay for things you don’t need, shared bathroom setups that work fine until they don’t, and Airbnbs that look great in photos but turn out to be someone’s spare room with a curtain for a door.

At Pocket Apartments, we do something a little different. Our studios are small -intentionally so, but every single one has its own private ensuite bathroom, and most come with a kitchenette too. Your own space, entirely to yourself.

Here’s why that matters more than you might think.

🚿 Why a Private Bathroom Changes Everything

It sounds like a given, but it genuinely isn’t especially at the more affordable end of London accommodation.

Plenty of studios, guesthouses, and short-let apartments still have shared bathrooms, and it only takes one early morning queue or one awkward hallway encounter to wish you’d checked.

With a private ensuite, your morning is yours.

You get up when you want, take as long as you need, and start the day on your own terms. After a long day exploring the city, you come back to your own bathroom, your own space, your own everything.

It’s a small thing that quickly starts to feel essential.

All of our studios at Pocket Apartments include a private ensuite as standard. No exceptions, no upgrades required.

🍳 The Kitchenette: More Useful Than You’d Expect

Most of our studios also come with a kitchenette (except our basement studios).

Not a full kitchen, we’re not pretending otherwise, but enough to make your stay noticeably easier and more comfortable than a standard hotel room.

You’ll typically find:

  • A kettle
  • An electric hob
  • A small fridge
  • Basic kitchen essentials

It might not sound like much, but it makes a real difference over the course of a few days.

A Few Ways Guests Actually Use It

  • Picking up pastries and great coffee from a nearby deli or our café and enjoying a relaxed morning before heading out
  • Bringing back food from Portobello Road Market and enjoying an affordable meal in
  • Keeping breakfast simple with yoghurt, fruit, toast, and coffee
  • Making a late-night cup of tea without needing to find a café

London can be an expensive city if every meal is eaten out. A kitchenette gives you options and options feel like freedom.

📐 Small but Well Thought Through

We’re called Pocket Apartments for a reason.

Our studios are compact, and we’ve leaned into that rather than apologised for it. Everything has been carefully considered: where things are placed, how the space flows, how to maximise comfort, and how to make a smaller room feel calm and practical.

What you won’t find is wasted space or unnecessary bulk.

What you will find:

  • A comfortable bed
  • Quality linens
  • A private bathroom
  • A workspace for remote working
  • Storage for your belongings
  • Everything you need for a comfortable stay

Who Are Pocket Apartments Perfect For?

Solo travellers who want privacy without paying hotel prices.

Couples who plan to spend their days exploring London and want a cosy base in a fantastic location.

Business travellers who appreciate a desk, reliable Wi-Fi, and a kitchenette.

Longer-stay guests looking for a practical, self-contained space.

📍 A Location You’ll Actually Want to Stay In

Our studios are split across two properties:

  • Notting Hill
  • Kensington

Both are among London’s most loved neighbourhoods, putting some of the city’s best attractions within easy reach.

Nearby highlights include:

  • Hyde Park
  • Portobello Road Market
  • The V&A Museum
  • Kensington Gardens
  • Independent cafés and restaurants
  • Beautiful residential streets perfect for exploring on foot

It’s the kind of area where having a comfortable base really matters - somewhere you can stop by during the day, freshen up, and head back out again.

That’s exactly what our studios are designed to be.

☕ Start Your Day at Pocket Coffee

Even with a kitchenette, there are mornings when you simply want someone else to make the coffee.

That’s where Pocket Coffee comes in.

Just a short walk from both properties, our café has become a favourite among guests looking for great coffee, fresh pastries, and an easy start to the day before heading out to explore London.

Many guests discover it on day one and return throughout their stay.

🧳 Flexible Arrival and Departure

Travel days don’t always line up neatly with check-in and check-out times.

That’s why we offer a bag drop service for guests arriving early or leaving later in the day.

You can leave your luggage safely with us and make the most of every hour in London without dragging bags around the city.

Whether you want to squeeze in one last museum visit, enjoy a leisurely lunch, or take a final walk through Hyde Park, we’ve got you covered.
